Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using VocaRead, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the application.

Service Description

VocaRead is a mobile application that converts text documents (PDF, EPUB) into audio using on-device text-to-speech technology. The application offers:

• Local text-to-speech processing: All audio generation happens directly on your device using neural network models.
• Document import: Import PDF and EPUB files from your device or from Project Gutenberg's public domain library.
• Offline translation: On-device translation between supported languages using downloaded language models.

Freemium Model and Purchases

VocaRead offers a free tier and a premium option:

• Free tier: Import unlimited books with up to 90 minutes of listening time per book.
• Premium (one-time purchase): Unlimited listening time for all books. This is a non-consumable in-app purchase — you pay once and keep it forever.
• Refunds: All purchases are processed through the Apple App Store. Refund requests must be made through Apple's standard refund process.

Your Content

You retain full ownership of all documents you import into VocaRead. We do not claim any rights over your content. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use and convert the documents you import.

Public Domain Content

VocaRead provides access to books from Project Gutenberg, a library of public domain works. These books are free to use. VocaRead is not affiliated with Project Gutenberg and makes no guarantees about the availability or accuracy of their catalog.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use VocaRead only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Use the app to process documents that infringe on others' intellectual property rights.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the voice models or TTS engine.
• Redistribute the generated audio for commercial purposes without appropriate rights to the source content.

Intellectual Property

VocaRead, including its design, code, voice models, and branding, is the property of Emmanuel BORGES. The TTS voices are provided under their respective open-source licenses. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the application.

Disclaimer of Warranties

VocaRead is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the generated audio will be perfectly accurate. Text-to-speech quality depends on the source document quality and selected voice model.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Emmanuel BORGES shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of VocaRead. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Premium purchase.

Termination

You may stop using VocaRead at any time by uninstalling the application. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to the service if these terms are violated. Your premium purchase remains valid even if you reinstall the app later.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page. Continued use of VocaRead after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France.
